The core philosophy
The core philosophy of the centre is to explore the true life of harmony and peace from the ancient truths of the Indian realization of the ultimate reality and with the consciousness of the modern age. The scope of research is broader to the extent of global understanding and contemporary issues. Students, social workers, spiritually inclined persons, thinkers and scholars of any field with quest for knowledge and flair for research are requested to join this venture as a researcher, member, donor and sponsor.

Aims and Objectives
Centre for cultural studies aims to promote and support independent free lance research projects. The associated fields are Indian philosophy, religion, culture, arts, music, dance, drama, literature, history, customs, natural and native medicine, archaeology, astronomy, astrology, organic agriculture, environmental issues, unpublished palm leave manuscripts, human values, monuments, translations, mass media, journalism and complete science.

The centre involves in conducting direct and correspondence courses with research orientation and methodological guidance, seminars, national and international conferences, workshops, expeditions and field studies. The thesis of the research projects will be published in English and Indian languages in print and through websites.

Centre for Cultural Studies is functioning under the guidance of
Dr.Sri Jagannatha Swami M.A.M.Phil.Ph.D. a Doctorate Scholar in Philosophy emerged from the Department of Philosophy, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai.

Activities in 2009 – 2010
* Centre for cultural studies commenced its work by 27 September 2009.
In November 7, 8- 2009, the Centre conducted a Workshop on Freelance Research at Coimbatore in various topics including literature, linguistics, philosophy, religion and culture, herbal medicine, archaeology, complete science, drama and short films. The workshop received overwhelming response and the Centre stepped in to a new horizon of academic realm.

* The Centre involved in conducting cultural programmes at Kovai Vizha and a colorful event called “Kathai Kezhu” brought out by Kavignar Puviyarasu, Nanjil Nadan and Prof.Natarjan inspired many people.

* During 7, 8 August 2010 the Centre conducted a Workshop on Freelance Research at Trichy.

*During 24,26 December the Centre conducted two days seminar on The perspectives of Archaeolgy at Madurai.

* Centre for Cultural studies announced the commencement of the project entitled “The Basic Values of Indian Culture and their relevance to National Integration” in January 2010 and Sri.Karthikeyan Sundararajan, Madurai was selected as the Research Associate for the same. The project is now complete and shortly the publication will be released.

* Dr.K.Mani is working on a publication work entitled Gene Revolution which would be a contribution to the field of complete science.

• A team of Archaeological scholars Dr.Ramkumar, Sthapathy Raman and T.L.S.Subash Chandira Bose are working on various historical findings and their first article about , “Tri Rathna Symbol” was published in Dinamalr, National Daily on 12 December 2010. The scholars are working on various other findings of their own merit and the details will be published soon.

Publications:
The center has published a book in Tamil titled, “ Agazhvayvugal Kaattum Thamizhaga Varalaru” by 17 July 2010.

Dr.Mani has brought out three volumes as the publication of Centre for Cultural studies in Tamil “Uyiriyal Thagavaliyal” a detailed study in Bio-informatics and this is the first ever published work in Tamil.
The Centre is focused to bring more science related publications in Tamil in future.

Fourth dimension of human thinking…
Human thinking is a unique concept. Unlike the other species on the mother earth man is a thinking animal and it is the backbone of human rule on the planet. Man has five sensual perceptions objectively and besides that he has the power of intuition and imagination. Historians classify the pattern of human thinking into three as primitive, medieval and modern. The primitive model of human thinking was only about survival and reproduction. The medieval period emerged as religious thinking and modern thinking is scientific. We can observe an evolution in the pattern of human thinking from this idea. It is obvious that the third dimension of scientific thinking is understood as the highest out of three. What made man to evolve in his intellectual prototype? Is this change is true or not? What are the problems in method of analysis? Of course, these are the some of the questions to be answered fundamentally.
It is the usual model to describe primitive man as a barbarian being. Slowly he learned many refined life styles and started his journey towards supremacy. Is this evolution is complete? If it is so, there should not be any murder cases today. Hence we can justify the evolutional analytical method is insufficient. Man’s thinking pattern has never changed, but the change is superficial. Barbarianism is still in practice today through wars. We cannot call ourselves as evolved beings unless we stop wars. Has science solved all the problems of human existence? Neither science nor religion is complete in this task. This leads to a doubt on change in human thinking as it seems to be only superficial and not at core. Science is not only for making human life more comfortable and there is a great necessity of saving man from self - disaster. Religiosity is not only orthodoxy but the philosophy that leads towards experience and self - realization. The fourth dimension of human thinking might be the amalgamation of Science and Spirituality. When the world wakes up in the dawn without the noise of gun shots, when the ugly corruption is not a profitable focus for the media, when the mother earth dwells in peace and when Global history is not made by individuals, we can confirm the real evolution of human thinking.

VALUE EDUCATION PROGRAMME Dr.B.Sree Jahannathan Ph.D. The aim of this booklet is to highlight various aspects of Human Values and the concept of Value Based Education Programme as introduced by Sri Sathya Sai Baba, a great Indian Saint and the Chancellor of Sri Sathya Sai Deemed University, Prashanthi Nilayam, Andhra Pradesh. Let us first of all understand the meaning of the word ‘value’. Value literally means something precious. In the words of John Dewey, “The value means primarily to prize, to esteem, to appraise and to estimate”. It means the act of achieving something, holding it and also the act of passing judgment upon the nature and amounts of values are compared with something else. Education in Human Values: Education in Human Values means, imparting a process which inculcates moral, spiritual and social values to the students, while learning at schools or colleges. “Value education has the capacity to transform a diseased mind into very young, fresh, innocent, healthy natural and attentive mind. The transformed mind is capable of higher sensitivity and a heightened level of perception. This leads to fulfillment of the evolutionary role in man and in life. Education in human values is based on teachings of moral, ethical and spiritual values which are essential to develop an individual’s character. Selected candidate from the participants of the workshop conducted by the Centre during 7,8 November 2009.

The project will analyze the following hypothesis:
1. Tradition of tolerance, adding to the richness and variety of Indian life.

2. Sense of synthesis reflected in racial harmony, the primary institutions of the village and the family, sculpture, architecture, music and painting, modes of worship, faith in democratic institutions etc.

3. Universal outlook as reflected in views such as 'The world is one family ', ' the world is one nest'

4. Philosophical perspective with its basis in the unity of creation.

5. Respect for the individual based on the philosophical equation of Atman and Brahman, the soul and the Over soul.
