CENTRE FOR CULTURAL STUDIES
The core philosophyThe core philosophy of the centre is to explore the true life of harmony and peace from the ancient truths of the Indian realization of the ultimate reality and with the consciousness of the modern age. The scope of research is broader to the extent of global understanding and contemporary issues. Students, social workers, spiritually inclined persons, thinkers and scholars of any field with quest for knowledge and flair for research are requested to join this venture as a researcher, member, donor and sponsor.
Aims and ObjectivesCentre for cultural studies aims to promote and support independent free lance research projects. The associated fields are Indian philosophy, religion, culture, arts, music, dance, drama, literature, history, customs, natural and native medicine, archaeology, astronomy, astrology, organic agriculture, environmental issues, unpublished palm leave manuscripts, human values, monuments, translations, mass media, journalism and complete science.
The centre involves in conducting direct and correspondence courses with research orientation and methodological guidance, seminars, national and international conferences, workshops, expeditions and field studies. The thesis of the research projects will be published in English and Indian languages in print and through websites.
Centre for Cultural Studies is functioning under the guidance of
Dr.Sri Jagannatha Swami M.A.M.Phil.Ph.D. a Doctorate Scholar in Philosophy emerged from the Department of Philosophy, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai.
Activities in 2009 – 2010* Centre for cultural studies commenced its work by 27 September 2009.
In November 7, 8- 2009, the Centre conducted a Workshop on Freelance Research at Coimbatore in various topics including literature, linguistics, philosophy, religion and culture, herbal medicine, archaeology, complete science, drama and short films. The workshop received overwhelming response and the Centre stepped in to a new horizon of academic realm.
* The Centre involved in conducting cultural programmes at Kovai Vizha and a colorful event called “Kathai Kezhu” brought out by Kavignar Puviyarasu, Nanjil Nadan and Prof.Natarjan inspired many people.
* During 7, 8 August 2010 the Centre conducted a Workshop on Freelance Research at Trichy.
*During 24,26 December the Centre conducted two days seminar on The perspectives of Archaeolgy at Madurai.
* Centre for Cultural studies announced the commencement of the project entitled “The Basic Values of Indian Culture and their relevance to National Integration” in January 2010 and Sri.Karthikeyan Sundararajan, Madurai was selected as the Research Associate for the same. The project is now complete and shortly the publication will be released.
* Dr.K.Mani is working on a publication work entitled Gene Revolution which would be a contribution to the field of complete science.
• A team of Archaeological scholars Dr.Ramkumar, Sthapathy Raman and T.L.S.Subash Chandira Bose are working on various historical findings and their first article about , “Tri Rathna Symbol” was published in Dinamalr, National Daily on 12 December 2010. The scholars are working on various other findings of their own merit and the details will be published soon.
Publications:
The center has published a book in Tamil titled, “ Agazhvayvugal Kaattum Thamizhaga Varalaru” by 17 July 2010.
Dr.Mani has brought out three volumes as the publication of Centre for Cultural studies in Tamil “Uyiriyal Thagavaliyal” a detailed study in Bio-informatics and this is the first ever published work in Tamil.
The Centre is focused to bring more science related publications in Tamil in future.
